Decorate your own ceramic easter themed tealight holder, a wooden easter egg and fridge magnet

Aimed at children of all ages. During this session you will decorate your own easter themed items using acrylic paints and glitter glue so that your items can be taken home with you to enjoy straight away.
– There will be a choice of easter themed ceramic paint a pot tealight holders to pick from. Bunny, chick or lamb.
– There will be an easter fridge magnet to colour in each and an wooden egg shape to decorate.
Free drink and easter treat for all participants included in the price.
A parent or guardian must accompany children at all times during this workshop.

Gelli printing workshop

Come and have a go at this quick and easy monoprinting technique where the results are exciting and no two prints are the same.

During the 2 hour workshop you will be taught gelli plate basics and learn how to layer colour and texture using stamps and stencils to produce interesting effects.  You’ll come away with a variety of prints to frame or use in your own work.

The workshop is for all skill levels – from complete beginners to experienced artists who would like to try a new technique.

You’ll need an apron (printing is a messy business!) all other equipment and materials are provided on the day.

New Modern Paper Craft 4 Week Courses

Lucy Jay Designs will be also teaching 4 week blocks of paper cutting and miniatures.

On this mini 4 week course you will be learning the addictive and fun art of modern paper craft. On the first session you will be given own paper craft kit which you can bring to each session.

Our sessions will be on a Tuesday evening from 6.30pm – 8.30pm and are based at Long Eaton Art Room.

This first course starts on Tuesday 5th April 2022 and ends on Tuesday 26th April 2022.

No experience is needed for this course and it is absolutely perfect for beginners. Over the four weeks, we will cover the following:

Week 1 – Paper Cutting

During this session you will learn to handle your craft knife with ease and how to follow paper cutting templates. You will start with two quick warm up templates to learn how much pressure to use on your paper and how to handle curves and angles while cutting. Then you will start a template from your pack to finish during the session.

Week 2 – Quilling

During this session you will learn a variety of skills including basic quilling techniques such as creating simple shapes, coils and scrolls. You will learn to freehand loop and how to assemble your quilled pieces into decorative designs. Your designs will be mounted on to card in this session but quilling can be used to create a variety of stunning art and jewellery.

Week 3 – Paper Bead Bees

This session will comprise of learning the art of making paper beads. During the session you will be shown you how to cut, roll and finish paper beads in three different styles. Your final fourth bead will be turned into a lovely little bee paper sculpture.

Week 4 – Ripped Paper Collage

In this session you will be using recycled magazines, maps, labels, painted paper sheets, photos and other torn found paper to capture an image in collage. After three quite neat and precise sessions, this session is all about playing with paper and having fun.

Lino print short courses

Starting 08.03.22 on Tuesday evenings 6.30-8.30 resident artist Minifi will be teaching 4 week blocks of Lino printing techniques.

Ever wanted to learn the basics of Lino printing? Well now you can! Lino printing does not have to be scary, you do not have to spend a fortune on tools, whilst you are just starting out. Minifi will be running a 4 week course on lino printing, she usually teaches a 2.5hr crash course but this time there will be 4 x 2 hr time slots to really explore.

Life Drawing Classes

Life Drawing Classes have restarted again, held on Thursday evenings twice a month (first and third Thursdays each month) 7pm-9pm. These are friendly untutored sessions at £10 per person. A model will be provided each session. Bring your own paper and pencils/drawing materials. We have easels available if anyone prefers to work on an easel.  Limited places so booking is essential. Please note these sessions are organised externally, please message us to be added to the separate life drawing mailing list.

Woolly Wednesdays Restart this week

We are really pleased to let you all know that Woolly Wednesday sessions restart this week Wednesday 6th October 2021

Every Wednesday Mary Graham will be running our Woolly Wednesday slots. 6.30-8.30pm

No need to book, just turn up and join in.  Bring your current knitting/crochet/textile project and spend some time with us in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

Just £3/person

These are not taught sessions, but the group is very knowledgeable and happy to help you get started or move along with your projects. Everyone welcome from beginners to experienced. Mary is exceptionally knowledgeable about crochet and many textiles, she is also a very skilled spinner too and a patient tutor.

Sessions are £3, every Wednesday (unless Mary is on holiday) 6.30-8.30 pm

Held here at Long Eaton Art Room in our bright spacious teaching room

Open Studios Event

We are very excited to be planning our open studios event again this year. We really missed seeing everyone last year. So hopefully lots of you will come and support our artists over the weekend. Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 November 10am-4pm each day.

Our artists will have their spaces open so you can view them, see what everyone makes in there and hopefully find and buy some unique gifts too. Its always a great atmosphere and we love to see you all.

Pop it in your diaries and please do come and visit us over the weekend.

Programme of workshops

Long Eaton Art Room are now running a variety of workshops here on site.

Long Eaton Art Room is a community arts centre based in the Midlands between Derby and Nottingham. Just 5 minutes off the M1 at junc 21

We run a wide range of workshops ourselves and also have a range of artists who hire the space and run workshops and courses here on site too.

We have low threshold double doors into our teaching spaces. They are large, bright and well heated rooms. We have accessible toilet facilities and a free carpark.
